Santa Anita: Sun's out - for now

The sun peaked out, at least briefly, this afternoon for the first race. The main track is listed as wet-fast and a field of $25,000 claimers ran 6 1-2 furlongs in 1:16.84 in the first race, which was originally scheduled to be run on the hillside turf course.

Angels' Share, ridden by Mike Smith, outfinihsed Church Avenue by a half-length, returning $9.20. Sleep Tight, the 7-5 favorite, finished last after racing as close as third to early stretch.

The weather will be unsettled this afternoon, with more sun than rain likely.
