Santa Anita: Spawr remains hot

Trainer Bill Spawr won for the third time from his last five starters when Havens Lake ($9.80) won an $8,000 claimer over 5 1-2 furlongs in Friday's sixth race.

Spawr has won with five of 16 starters at the current winter-spring meeting, including with Amazombie in the $200,000 California Cup Sprint at Santa Anita on Jan. 29.

Havens Lake, ridden by Joel Rosario, had an ideal trip on Friday, stalking the pace to the turn and winning by three-quarters of a length over Ann's Seven in the field of seven.

Sipnzin was a late scratch at 8-1 after becoming unruly in the starting gate.

There were two horses claimed from the field. Sweet and Jazzy, who finished fourth, was taken by Victor Fernandez, while fifth-place fniisher Cato Major was claimed by Jack Carava.
