Santa Anita: PVal's pick 6

Jockey Patrick Valenzuela won the first two legs of Saturday's pick six with geldings who were difficult to string together.

In the fifth race, Tribal Nation ($17.60) won a one-mile maiden race on turf by a half-length over 9-5 favorite Visual Intensity.

In the sixth race, Joyful Success ($12.20) outfinished 8-5 favorite Flashy Green by 1 1-2 lengths to win a $10,500 to $12,500 claimers for 4-year-olds over six furlongs. Toro Trippi, the 2-1 second choice in the betting, led in early stretch but could not hold off Joyful Success, who is trained by Peter Miller. The $2 double from Tribal Nation to Joyful Success paid $72.80.

Valenzuela does not have a mount in the seventh and eighth races, and rides 8-5 favorite Separate Forest in the ninth race and Romaine for Miller in the 10th race.
