Santa Anita: Pedroza triples, wins last with longshot

Jockey Martin Pedroza swept Friday's early double and won the last race for a three-win day.

Pedroza's victory in the last was a surprise to bettors. The first-time starter Stormy Linda ($17.60) fought for the early lead with Misty Miss Joanna before taking over in the stretch, finishing 2 3-4 lengths in front of Dos Viente in the five-furlong race for maiden claimers.

Earlier in the day, Pedroza won the first race with Lucy Got Lucky ($7.80) and the second with Lyrical Goddess ($7). Neither of those were favored, resulting in an early $2 double of $28.40.

The $1 super high five in Friday's eighth race returned $2,217.40. Bettors added $129,477 to a pool that began with a carryover of $39,307. Stormy Linda was followed by Dos Viente (4-1), Misty Miss Joanna (3-1), Movie Duty (5-2) and Ghost Shadow (8-1).

Also on Friday's eight-race program, jockey Tyler Baze had three wins, including the Santa Lucia Handicap on Devine Actress.
