Santa Anita: A messy 6th

Hard to Resist ($12.80) rallied wide through the stretch to win Sunday's sixth race over a mile on turf for maidens, but the race was marred by a severe breakdown to Super, a 9-2 shot.

Super, who was making her American debut, was running toward the back of the field when she was injured.

Hard to Resist was timed in 1:36.76. Trained by Peter Eurton, Hard to Resist was making her turf debut, having finished fifth and fourth in maiden special weight races for sprinters in December and January. She was the third consecutive non-favorite to win a pick six race on Sunday.

The field was reduced to 10 starters a few minutes before post time when Candys Girl unseated jockey Mike Smith and ran loose on the racetrack. Trainer Jamie Lloyd saddled Candys Girl and Super.
