Santa Anita: Longshots win 4th, 5th

The outsiders Brinson ($51.20) and Mr. Make Believe ($26) won the fourth and fifth races on Saturday, resulting in a $2 daily double of $584.

Brinson, trained by Henry Moreno, gave jockey Agapito Delgadillo his first winner of the meeting. Delgadillo rode at Sunland Park in New Mexico earlier this year. Brinson won by a half-length over Seven Secrets, finishing six furlongs in 1:10.25 in the dash for $8,000 claimers.

Mr. Make Believe rallied between horses to win a maiden race on the hillside turf course by a half-length over Celtic Charmer, who finished a nose in front of Bellingham, who was part of the favored entry at 9-5 with fourth-place finisher Green Cat.

Mr. Make Believe, trained by Richard Mandella, made his first career debut on Saturday and was ridden by Garrett Gomez.
