Santa Anita: Key scratch in 8th

Chocolate Caliente ($4) ran away from eight rivals in Thursday's eighth race for maiden claimers, but her job was made much easier with the late scratch of second betting choice Black Wildcat at post time.

Black Wildcat was 5-2 when she was withdrawn after becoming injured in the gate, according to track stewards.

Chocolate Caliente, who gave jockey Joel Rosario his third win on the day, set fractions of 21.75 and 44.52 seconds and ran six furlongs in 1:10.02. Trained by Jerry Hollendorfer, she was making her first start on Thursday.

Chocolate Caliente won the final leg of a pick six that returned $3,299.
