Santa Anita: Inquiry but no change in fourth

Close to the Edge ($6.60) won a maiden race for 3-year-olds in Sunday's fourth race, and survived a six-minute inquiry into the stretch run to keep the win.

Close to the Edge finished 1 1-2 lengths in front of Apriority, a 2-1 chance, in the seven-furlong race. The stewards focused their inquiry on an incident in which Brace Yourselves was checked in the final furlong, and faded out of contention.

The stewards ruled that the original order of finish was not affected when Martin Garcia, who rode Brace Yourselves, overreacted to his mount being in close quarters between Apriority and eventual third-place finisher Derrick Do.

The fourth race was the first leg of a pick six that attracted a pool of $251,657.
