Santa Anita: Impregnable flies to win, avoids trouble


Impregnable, who was ninth and 10th in his fifrst two starts, led throughout a five-furlong maiden claimer in Friday's fifth race, returning $29.20.

Ridden by Luis Medina, his first winner of the meeting with his 41st mount, Impregnable was the highest priced winner in the first five races on Friday.

The race was not without drama. Detroit Donnie, a first-time starter, stumbled badly when in tight in the stretch, clipped heels and nearly fell. Detroit Donnie finished eighth in a field of nine. The stewards conducted an inquiry into the incident but did not change the order of finish.
