Santa Anita: He's got a hard last name, but a good horse

Trainer Mark Tsalagakis has a promising gelding in Dubai You X Y Z, who scored a promising win in an optional claimer over a mile on turf in Friday's seventh race.

Ridden by Brice Blanc, Dubai You X Y Z ($7.60) rallied from fourth to win by 1 1-4 lengths over Dahoud, who led by 1 1-2 lengths at the eighth pole but could not sustain the advantage.

Dubai You X Y Z was favored in the field of nine, winning for the third time in his fourth start. He started in a maiden calimer last March, was off for seven months, and then returned to win a starter allowance at Hollywood Park in November. In his only loss, Dubai You X Y Z finished a troubled third in a first-condition allowance race at Hollywood Park on Dec. 12, missing by a head after being stuck in traffic on the turn.

Friday's race made up for that defeat, and showed that Dubai You X Y Z has a promising future on turf for Tsalagakis.
