Santa Anita: He more than belongs

Email

After Gato Go Win finished second by a nose to Ventana in Saturday's Grade 2 Potrero Grande Handicap, trainer Bobby Troeger said his horse "ran huge and shows that he belongs."

Troeger's assessment could not have been more accurate.

The 4-year-old colt fought with Ventana through the stretch and was really only beaten by a head bob. Ventana has more experience this year, having finished second in the Palos Verdes and San Carlos handicaps earlier at this meeting.

Troeger was aiming for his first graded stakes win in the Potrero Grande. He said that Gato Go Win will be pointed for the Hollywood Park spring-summer meeting. Bettors will be waiting for him and expecting another huge race.
