Santa Anita: Experience helps 'Humor'

Red Sharp Humor ($7.80) won for the first time in his seventh career start in Saturday's sixth race, holding off a threat from Midnight Interlude to win a one-mile maiden race for 3-year-olds by a half-length.

Trained by Jerry Hollendorfer and ridden by Corey Nakatani, Red Sharp Humor was timed in 1:35.08. He was beaten a nose in his previous start on Feb. 3 over 1 1-16 miles, his only other start around two turns. Red Sharp Humor entered the race as the most experienced runner in the field with six starts.

Interestingly, Red Sharp Humor was not nominated to the Triple Crown at the first nomination stage last month, but Midnight Interlude was.

Midnight Interlude ran a respectable second in his second start and first race around two turns.

The first three races of Saturday's pick six were largely formful. Lady Sweetness ($4) and Really Uptown ($17.40) won the first two legs. Really Uptown was 12-1 on the morning-line, and was bet down to 7-1. The $1 pick 3 on those races paid $130.40.
