Santa Anita: Chantal: 'Don't leave me out of your pick 3'

Chantal Sutherland, who won the Santa Anita Handicap earlier this month on Game On Dude, rides morning-line favorite Eclair de Lune in Saturday's Santa Ana Stakes.

In a much lesser prestigious race, she is anxious to ride Jordanelle in the 10th race, a seven-furlong race for maiden claimers. Sutherland has ridden Jordanelle to third-place finishes twice this year and said the mare should be suited to the extra distance. "Don't leave me out of your pick 3's," she told a group of fans at a handicapping program on Saturday morning.

Jordanelle, trained by John Shirreffs, must beat Make Someone Happy, who figures to be favored in her first start since November for underrated trainer Mark Tsagalakis.

Eclair de Lune can give Sutherland her second stakes win of the meeting in the Santa Ana.

The winner of the Grade 1 Beverly D Stakes at Arlington Park last August, Eclair de Lune is 5-2 in the Santa Ana, which is run over 1 1-8 miles on turf for fillies and mares. Earlier this week, trainer Ron McAnally had hoped for rain before Saturday's race to soften the firm course before the Santa Ana. There was a slight amount of rain overnight. There are two turf races on the hillside turf course before the Santa Ana.

Eclair de Lune will face a challenge from the improving Malibu Pier, who drew the rail, and Turning Top, who won the Beverly Hills Handicap at Hollywood Park last year.
