Santa Anita: Carryover reaches $60,712

Email

There is a pick six carryover of $60,712 for Saturday's 11-race program at Santa Anita, which features four Grade 1 stakes that are preps for the Breeders' Cup races at Churchill Downs in November.

The carryover was clinched when Totally True ($38.60) won a maiden claimer over six furlongs, outfinishing 55-1 Del Mar Johnny. Depth, the 3-2 favorite, could only finish third after a troubled trip under jockey Joel Rosario. Depth was last for the first quarter-mile and weaved his way through traffic in the stretch. It was a disappointing performance from both horse and rider considering that Depth had raced closer to the pace in some of his earlier starts.

The long odds on the first two finishers helped to create a carryover of $32,686 for Saturday's $1 super high five, which will be on the 11th race.

Saturday's pick six covers the sixth through 11th races, a sequence that features three Grade 1 races - the Norfolk Stakes for 2-year-olds (sixth race), Goodwood Stakes for older horses (seventh) and Yellow Ribbon for fillies and mares on turf (10th race).

There will be a late scratch in the Goodwood, with Acclamation to be withdrawn in favor of a start in Sunday's Clement Hirsch Turf Championship.
