Email

Burj Dubai ($8) won the first leg of Sunday's pick six, which began with a carryover of $101,743 from Saturday. Bettors added $691,113 to the pool on Sunday.

Burj Dubai was the second choice in a field of six. Ridden by Corey Nakatani, Burj Dubai stalked pacesetter Sassou for the first half-mile of the $40,000 to $50,000 claimer over 6 1-2 furlongs, took the lead in the final furlong and won by 2 1-4 lengths over Details R Sketchy, who closed well late. Burj Dubai was timed in 1:14 on a track that has played friendly to frontrunners on Sunday.

Sassou was ridden by jockey Patrick Valenzuela, his first loss on Sunday after sweeping the first three races of the day.

Burj Dubai was claimed by Mike Mitchell in partnership with Jeffrey Sengara. On behalf of Sengara solely, Mitchell also claimed fourth-place finisher Bestdressed. Details R Sketchy was claimed by Hector Palma.
