Santa Anita: Blanc doubles

Jockey Brice Blanc had his first two-win day since Nov. 26 when All Star Heart ($40.80) pulled an upset in Friday's sixth race at Santa Anita. Earlier in the day, Blanc rode favored Recipient to a victory in a $50,000 claimer on turf for 3-year-old fillies.

All Star Heart, trained by Ron McAnally, finished 1 1-2 lengths in front of 2-1 favorite Tashzara, who rallied from off the pace to finish in front of an unlucky Mutually Benefit, who was also 2-1. Mutually Benefit was well-placed under jockey Garrett Gomez with a quarter-mile remaining, but could not find running room and was beaten 2 3-4 lengths.

All Star Heart was winless in eight starts and was making her second start for McAnally. T'he filly raced in Kentucky in 2009 and at Woodbine in 2010 with little success. In Friday's race, All Star Heart ran a mile on turf in 1:35.17.
