Santa Anita: Bejarano sweeps double

Jockey Rafael Bejarano swept the early double on Thursday, though his win in the second race seemed doomed in the stretch.

In the second race, Bejarano was aboard Hey Elvis, who was passed by Achak and then rallied to win the one-mile turf race for $35,000 claimers by a half-length. Earlier, Bejarano won the first race for 2-year-old maiden fillies with Star Presence ($3.60). Hey Elvis returned ($4.20), resulting in an early $2 double of $8.

Bejarano was second in the third race on Misinjennuous, and has mounts in the fourth through seventh races.

Bejarano's two wins leaves him with 10 at the meeting, four more than Joel Rosario.
