Remington Park will hold a morning workout and stable tour program on Sunday. It will begin at 8:45 a.m. Central. Chris Kotulak will host the Sunrise at Remington Park program, which will start in the grandstand and proceed to the backside for a stable area tour. Some of the horsemen participating in Sunday afternoon's stakes, which include $400,000 Oklahoma Derby and $250,000 Remington Park Oaks, will participate in Sunrise at Remington.
The races will start at 1:30 p.m. on what is the lone Sunday card of the meet at Remington. The track is planning a slew of activities all afternoon, including an extreme-animal zoo, a mechanical bull and horse-drawn carriage rides from the parking lot to the entrance. There will also be an Oklahoma Derby hat contest from 2-4 p.m. on the clubhouse level. The Oklahoma Derby itself drew a field of 12 horses led by the Bob Baffert-trained Prayer for Relief. Post time for the race, which goes as the 10th on an 11-race card, is 5:49 p.m. Central.
Best Bets
MUTINY was claimed from seventh straight loss, and returned eight weeks later to beat a dozen rivals in best effort since last July; back to dirt and back with Rosie Napravnik after turf try on short rest. RUFFINO probably won't match 92 Beyer earned last time on this track last fall, but grizzled old pro got back in win column recently, when claimed by savvy owner-trainer; second in '09 Empire Classic over sloppy going here. HILL CROSSING has been freshened since Mar. 18 score second off the claim that earned best figure since daylight win here last summer; needs fast footing.
