Oaklawn: Yankee Passion Delivers!

Email

Yankee Passion ($3.60) turned in a powerful seasonal debut effort in the eighth race, when he stalked the pace, came between horses approaching the quarter pole, and went on to win the six-furlong allowance in 1:10.88. Gabriel Saez was aboard for trainer Larry Jones.

"We're happy to see him live up to our expectations," Jones told the Oaklawn media department following the race. "I know the track was siding with speed today, but he did it in real racehorse time."

Jones has said he looks to stretch Yankee Passion out around two turns, as he is from a Pleasant Colony mare. The horse is a son of Yankee Gentleman and he was bred by his owner, Brereton Jones.
