Oaklawn: It's the Racing Festival of the South

Oaklawn Park begins its annual Racing Festival of the South this afternoon, when nine stakes worth $2.7 million are run over the final six dates of the meet that wraps April 16. There are five graded races on deck, the first of which is this afternoon's Grade 2, $350,000 Oaklawn Handicap. The field is led by Misremembered.

Other top events over the next week include the Grade 2, $300,000 Fantasy on Sunday, the Grade 3, $200,000 Count Fleet Sprint Handicap on Thursday, the Grade 1, $500,000 Apple Blossom Handicap on Friday and the Grade 1, $1 million Arkansas Derby on Saturday.

The main track is listed as fast, while it is sunny and in the 80s at Oaklawn. There are a few scratches to pass along, and a few overweights in the Oaklawn Handicap.

In the third race, scratch No. 1A, Divine Retribution, No. 5, Blushwithjoy, and No. 7, Teton Diva

In the fourth, take out No. 12, Turnleftatthelight

In the fifth, scratch No. 4, Af Quack

In the eighth, scratch No. 3, Bid's Reward

In the 10th, the Oaklawn Handicap, there are a few overweights. No. 1, Win Willy, is plus one; No. 3, Double Threat, is plus four; and No. 5, Stachys, is plus four.
