Oaklawn: Countdown to Arienza


Arienza, the daughter of 2002 Horse of the Year Azeri, will make the second start of her career Sunday in the 10th race. She was scratched from the $75,000 Prima Donna at six furlongs here Saturday in favor of the allowance race this afternoon, which will be around two turns. It could serve as her springboard to either the Grade 2 Fantasy or Instant Racing Stakes later this meet at Oaklawn, said her trainer, Danny Peitz.

Also on the card, Louisiana-bred millionaire Superior Storm cuts back to one turn for the first time since 2008 for the $75,000 Carousel. It is overcast and in the 40s at Oaklawn, where the track is listed as fast. Below are known scratches:

First Race: No Scratches

Second: Scratch No. 1, T Bill Bubble

Third through Ninth races, No Scratches

Tenth: Scratch No. 6, Peaceful Town, and No. 11, Going Away Baby
