Oaklawn: Changes yield dominant win

Nuckser ($15.20) made a splash in his two-turn debut, when he wired a field of $10,000 maiden claimers at a mile and an eighth. It was the first start past six furlongs for the horse, who was racing as a gelding for the first time. Trainer Cynthia Gastel also took the blinkers off the horse for the race. In addition, she used an apprentice on Nuckser for the first time, so the horse got in light, at 111 pounds, under Jacob Radosevich.

Nuckser began his career at Belmont Park and in a pair of maiden races there had the misfortune of hooking Boys at Tosconova and Stay Thirsty. He is a son of the Summer Squall stallion Summinitup and he was bred in Illinois.
