Oaklawn: Carryover into final week


There will be a pick six carryover of $25,208 into the final week of the meet at Oaklawn, which begins with a special Wednesday card April 13. The season will wrap on April 16, with the running of the Grade 1, $1 million Arkansas Derby.

Oaklawn is the midst of its annual Racing Festival of the South, with nine stakes worth $2.7 million being run over the final six dates of the meet. Below are the remaining races in the lineup:

TODAY: Grade 2, $300,000 Fantasy featuring Joyful Victory and Arienza

WEDNESDAY: $100,000 Bayakoa, which drew Payton d'Oro, Distinctive Dixie and Tidal Pool

THURSDAY: Grade 3, $200,000 Count Fleet Sprint Handicap led by Smiling Tiger

FRIDAY: Grade 1, $500,000 Apple Blossom Handicap, with Havre de Grace, Switch and Miss Match; and the $75,000 Bachelor for 3-year-olds at six furlongs

SATURDAY: Arkansas Derby, with such horses as The Factor, Archarcharch, J P's Gusto and Elite Alex; the supporting stakes are also for 3-year-olds, the $100,000 Northern Spur and the $100,000 Instant Racing
