Oaklawn: Bullet for Noble's Promise

Noble's Promise breezed a bullet five furlongs in 1:00.80 at Oaklawn on Saturday morning in his final prep for the Grade 1, $1 million Arkansas Derby. The mile and an eighth race will be run on April 10.

Noble's Promise worked in the first set after the renovation break, on a 60 degree morning. The track was listed as fast. Walter Blum Jr., assistant to the horse's trainer, Ken McPeek, was aboard for the move Saturday.

Noble's Promise won the Grade 1 Breeders' Futurity last fall at Keeneland, and in his seasonal debut last  month was second by a head to champion Lookin At Lucky in the Grade 2, $300,000 Rebel at Oaklawn. For his effort in the Rebel, which was his first start on dirt, Noble's Promise earned a career-best Beyer Figure of 97.
