Oaklawn: Bullet for Caleb's Posse

Caleb's Posse, who won the first stakes in Oaklawn's series for 3-year-olds, the $100,000 Smarty Jones on Jan. 17, breezed five furlongs in a bullet 1:01 on Saturday morning. Clockers carried him through fractions of 12 seconds for the opening eighth of a mile, 24.20 for the first quarter, 36.60 for three-eighths, and out six furlongs in 1:14.40.

Donnie Von Hemel trains Caleb's Posse, who could make his next start in either the Grade 3, $250,000 Southwest at Oaklawn on Feb. 21 or the Grade 2, $300,000 Risen Star at Fair Grounds on Feb. 19.

The Smarty Jones, which was run at a mile, was the second career stakes win for Caleb's Posse. He also accounted for the $100,000 Clever Trevor this past fall at Remington Park.
