Oaklawn: Bayakoa Paddock Report

Luna Vega, who won the Grade 2 Molly Pitcher in August, will be making her first start since September in the upcoming $100,000 Bayakoa and she made a favorable appearance fitness-wise in the paddock. She last raced in the Grade 1 Ruffian at Belmont and was third to Swift Temper.

Distinictive Dixie, who was second to Euphony in this race a year ago, was all dappled out. She is seeking to become the fourth next-out winner to emerge from the $60,000 Furl Sail at Fair Grounds in January. She was seventh in the race that has produced the following next-out winners: Dancin Perfect, who was fifth, came back to take a $62,500 optional claimer at Fair Grounds with a Beyer Figure of 89; Bubbler, who was sixth, returned to win the $57,000 Krantz Memorial at Fair Grounds with a Beyer of 94; and Love to Tell, who was 11th, accounted for the $50,000 Jersey Lily at Sam Houston in her next start, with a Beyer of 91.

The scratch of Taptam takes out some speed here, which could benefit Payton d'Oro.
