Oaklawn: Arkansas Derby runners to paddock

Email

The horses are starting to head over to the paddock for the Grade 1, $1 million Arkansas Derby, which is scheduled to go off at 6:15 p.m. The Factor is the current 4-5 favorite, as he attempts to maintain his status as one of the top choices for the Kentucky Derby.

Martin Garcia has the mount for trainer Bob Baffert. The men teamed together earlier on the card to win the $100,000 Instant Racing with May Day Rose.

The sun is out at Oaklawn, and the crowd has exceeded 62,000, with the infield open. Others set to start in the Arkansas Derby include Brethren, the half-brother to last year's Kentucky Derby winner, Super Saver. Super Saver was edged by Line of David in last year's Arkansas Derby. Ramon Dominguez has the mount for trainer Todd Pletcher.
