Oaklawn: Arienza one race away

Arienza, a 3-year-old daughter of Giant's Causeway and Azeri who brought $800,000 at auction, is set to make her career debut in the 10th race at Oaklawn. She will break from post 6. Arienza comes into the race with some strong works to her credit, the most notable being five furlongs from the gate in a bullet 58.80 seconds Feb. 18.

Arienza will be taking on older rivals as the maiden special weight at six furlongs is also open to open to fillies and mares who are 4 and 5. It's also worth noting she is a May foal. But on pedigree she's tough to beat. Her sire earned $3 million, and her Horse of the Year dam, $4 million. Azeri also won three runnings of the Apple Blossom Handicap at Oaklawn.

Michael Baze has the mount on Arienza for owners Robert and Lawana Low and trainer Dan Peitz.
