Oak Tree: Zenidekka breaks, wins

Zenidekka broke poorly in her first start at this meeting on Oct. 3 and could only finish a well-beaten fourth.

Saturday, everything went right.

Ridden by Patrick Valenzuela for trainer Neil Drysdale, Zenidekka ($7.40) broke well on the rail and set fractions of 22.71 and 46.23 seconds, winning by 1 1-4 lengths over a late-closing Going for a Spin. Zenidekka ran six furlongs in 1:11.15.

In the first race, Cost of Freedom ($3.40) zipped six furlongs in 1:08.58, winning the Cal Cup Sprint in the fastest six furlongs of the meeting. Cost of Freedom led throughout, was never pressured and won by 6 1-4 lengths. Stakes here on Thanksgiving and in Dubai over the winter are being considered, owner Gary Barber said.

The $2 1-1 double of Cost of Freedom and Zenidekka returned $9.60.
