Oak Tree: A tough way to lose

The late scratch of Just Imagine from Thursday's second race was costly for bettors.

Just Imagine was part of an entry at 5-2 with Stakin Stewart when he was withdrawn two minutes to post, reported as being offf in his left foreleg, according to track stewards. By post time, Stakin Stewart, considered the weaker part of the entry, had drifted up to 5-1.

Bettors who used the entry in win, place or show or exotic bets within the second race were able to cancel, if desired. Bettors with daily double, pick 3 or early pick 4 tickets were not as fortunate since Stakin Stewart started.

Worse, Stakin Stewart did not have a good trip. Running on the rail for most of the maiden race over 1 1-16 miles, he emerged between horses in the stretch but was in traffic and finished fourth.

The race was won by Mazarron ($9.80).
