Oak Tree: A tiny pick six pool

By Southern California standards, Thursday's pick six pool of $97,672 is alarmingly small. Pick six pools, even on weekdays, routinely exceed $100,000 and can often reach $150,000 even on non-carryover days.

A four-horse field in the third race, the first leg of Thursday's pick six, may have discouraged some bettors.

Favorites were beaten in the first two legs of the pick six. In the third race, Grand Maneuver ($7), the third beting choice, ran on well thorugh the stretch to win a starter allowance race over seven furlongs by a half-length over Mr. Gennaro.

In the fourth race, Neversaidiwassweet ($16.60) led throughout a one-mile maiden race for 2-year-old fillies, holding off a late threat from Family Plan, a 2-1 shot.
