Oak Tree: Rail works for Late Cuddle

A rail move by jockey Rafael Bejarano helped guide Late Cuddle to victory in Saturday's third race, an allowance race for fillies and mares over 1 1-16 miles on turf.

Bejarano had Late Cuddle ($3) on the rail on the second turn, found room between pacesetter Calle Vista and the rail in early stretch and snuck through to win by a half-length under a hand ride. Late Cuddle was timed in 1:42.37, and has won 2 of 3 starts since arriving from New Zealand in the spring.

The only blemish on her American record was a fifth as the 2-5 favorite in an allowance race at Del Mar on Sept. 3, a loss that contributed to a three-day carryover for the following day.
