Oak Tree: PVal wins on Anga

Email

Patrick Valenzuela rode the 3-year-old gelding Anga for the first time in Friday's fourth race, and overcame a touch of trouble at the end of the backstretch to win the maiden claimer comfortably.

Valenzuela had Anga on the inside entering the turn, and was able to guide his mount to the outside and around the pacesetter going toward the stretch. It was not until the final eighth, and particularly the last sixteenth, that Valenzuela got a response from Anga, who was making his second consecutive start at 1 1-16 miles.

Anga ($10) finished three-quarters of a length in front of Dave's Ruler in the maiden claimer.

The $1 pick three featuring the first half of Friday's lucrative pick six returned $41.40. The first two winners were It's Not Unsual ($3.60) and Saravas Wild Again ($8). Only It's Not Unusual was favored.
