Oak Tree: The money was right

Email

The support for Escaping the Storm was spot on in Friday's sixth race.

Listed at 8-1 on the morning-line, Escaping the Storm was bet down to 3-1 and won accordingly. Ridden by Joe Talamo, Escaping the Storm stalked pacesetter Rathman and pulled away to win the seven-furlong race for $12,500 claimers by 1 3-4 lengths over E.P. Bombay, who closed to just catch Rathman at the wire.

Escaping the Storm made his first start on Friday for trainer Jack Carava and La Canada Stables, having been claimed for $10,000 at Del Mar on Sept. 3. Escaping the Storm was ninth in that race, after a wide trip. Carava has a sharp record with claims, and Escaping the Storm was making a key class drop, from an open $10,000 claimer to a non-winners of two lifetime.
