Oak Tree: Making the last stride count

Tiz Argent, the 3-2 favorite, rallied wide through the stretch to win Friday's seventh race for statebreds by a neck over Pop'shands Are Hot. Tiz Argent was the third favorite to win during the pick six races, and the second consecutive winner of the day for trainer John Sadler.

Tiz Argent ran 1 1-16 miles on turf in 1:41.99. Pop'shands Are Hot, a 19-1 shot who set the pace, finished a head in front of 9-2 Lodi Red in the field of 10. Jockey Joel Rosario had Tiz Argent last going into the turn, and rallied between horses o the turn and wide entering the stretch to reach the front just in time.

Tiz Argent lost his first two startrs on the synthetic main track at Santa Anita earlier this year, and is unbeaten in two starts on turf since returning from a layoff of nearly seven months in September.

There is little possibility of a double carryover. Of the 13 2-year-old maiden claimers in the last race, only 35-1 shot Queen of Runners, a first-time starter, is uncovered in the pick six.
