Oak Tree: Gone Rebel carries speed

Gone Rebel led throughout Sunday's Anoakia Stakes to score her first stakes win and trainer Vladimir Cerin was quick to credit jockey Patrick Valenzuela for his winning ride.

Valenzuela urged Gone Rebel to the lead early in the six-furlong race and led by 1 1-2 lengths after an opening quarter-mile in 22.12 seconds. "That was the winning move when he got to the rail," Cerin said.

Gone Rebel ($7) won by three-quarters of a length over 4-5 favorite Tales in Excess, finishing six furlongs in 1:10.38.

Tales in Excess is becoming a money spinner. After winning her first start against maidens on Sept. 4, she was second to Sarah's Secret in an allowance race here on Oct. 7 as the 3-10 favorite.
