Oak Tree: Flashy debut for 'Turbulent'

Email

Turbulent Descent beat maiden in her career debut in Sunday's sixth race in a style that suggests the 2-year-old filly has room for ample improvement.

Ridden by David Flores, Turbulent Descent stalked the pace through early fractions of 22.20 and 45.51 seconds, and waited briefly behind the leaders on the turn. Flores guided Turbulent Descent between fillies near the 3-16ths pole and took the lead in the final furlong, holding off a determined run from Canadian Pride to win by three-quarters of a length. Turbulent Descent  ran six furlongs in 1:09.90 for a partnership and trainer Mike Puype.

Interestingly, Canadian Pride was 6 1-2 lengths clear of third-place finisher Teroda in the field of 11.

Turbulent Descent is by Congrats and was purchased for $160,000 at the Ocala Breeders' Sale in April of this year.
