Oak Tree: 3 led in final 1-16th

Email

Wednesday's sixth race had three leaders in the final sixteenth, which was won in a late rally by Format V. ($11.20).

Danzip, the 5-2 second choice, led by a length at the eighth pole of the six-furlong race for $50,000 claimers, but was quickly challenged by Mr Tokyo, who appeared to lead for a stride or two before Format V. swooped past both them under jockey Rafael Bejarano to win by a half-length. Mr Tokyo was second, a head in front of a game Danzip.

Interestingly, the fractions of the race - 21.71 and 44.04 seconds - were the fastest of the Oak Tree at Hollywood Park meeting for a six-furlong turf race, while the final time of 1:08.43 was the third-fastest time of the meeting at the distance.
