I was so pleasantly surprised to see so many interesting comments from people who remembered horses and races from the recent "10 from 1979" blog.   I sometimes forget how many people share a passion for racing history. Below are some photos from 1991.  The memories seems fairly recent until doing the math....  Twenty years!  Twenty years ago Farma Way, Silver Survivor and the near-tailless Sea Cadet - as well as the American Championship Racing Series - helped create our memories.

My mind sometimes drifts to the "good old days" and recollections of favorite racehorses from decades ago.  Just for fun, here's a look back at ten favorites who raced at Saratoga in 1979.  Yes, that was 32 (!) years ago, the first year I had easy access to a car.  How many people out there in cyber-land remember these stars?    

You might think from looking at the picture of these two equine aristocrats that they were brother and sister. But they aren’t even related, unless of course, you want to back to little Mr. Eohippus, who lived a few zillion years ago. They are a couple of weanlings on the farm in Kentucky and I have high hopes that, when they are old enough to go to the races in 1952 as two-year-olds, they are going to be a big help in paying that feed bill.
