Monmouth: Three Races in, Three Outside Speeds Win

Email

You may not be ready to label this a bias but there have been three races, all sprints, run thus far at Monmouth today and all were won by horses close up and on or near the lead, two of them longshots. That includes Wild Rainbow, who was making her first start since February, but also her first start for a tag in today's 2nd race. She and race favorite Fight the Feeling were the main speeds in the race, and the latter did complete the two-speed exacta.

Good Will, despite turning back from route races, was close-up from the start in the opener and proved best late, wearing down One Tough Belle, part of the favored entry. The latter was loose on the lead from the start and had no real excuse, unless it turns out that the rail is indeed deeper than the outer paths once again.
