Monmouth: Rain in the Forecast

If you're betting in advance today note the heavy rain is expected. In fact, there's a flood advisory. The main track is rated "Good" after overnight rains hit the area. There is no turf racing.

There are a couple of races that interest me in terms of race flow. The 2nd seems ripe for a gate-to-wire winner, as the lack of speed in the field gives the front-runners the edge. I'm thinking Boy G. will have the edge, but I'm also using Smoke'n Review, and Ming Dynasty underneath. The 6th figures to offer a similar scenario, and though African Gold looks like the main speed Brother in Arms may actually be quicker from the gate, assuming a clean start from the rail.

The feature race, the Monmouth Beach Stakes, goes as the 10th, but I've lost some interest now that R Betty Graybull is scratched. She had the race flow in her favor in the Ladies Handicap in her latest, and that resulted in a win, but she figured to be against the grain here, as this is another relatively paceless race.

Whathecatdraggedin may be a sneaky play in the finale. She has some nice works for her return, and the fact that she gets Lasix for the first time could mean she's a new horse in 2011. We'll see.

Here's what we have for changes:
