Monmouth: "Outside Speed" Best?

If the results of the first two races are any indication, the best place to be on the main track here today is off the rail, but on or near the lead. That has been a winning combination at this track when it's been wet in the past, and it does again appear to be the case. Good luck trying to decipher those horses who will wind up there, but it seems clear that deep closers and those drawn inside could be at a disadvantage. I'm going to focus on stalkers and speed-types, as long as they're not stuck down inside.

A horse who could benefit from the conditions in the upcoming 3rd race may be Thisonesforruthie (#6, 6-1 ML). Not only is she quick from the gate but she's outside, and chances are good that jockey Joe Bravo will be able to exploit any bias that exists.
