Monmouth: Nor'Easter Scratched

With weather many times becoming the lead story on the local news around here I'm starting to think they're just making up these strom threats. Early in the week we were warned of this impending "Nor'easter" coming on Thursday night or Friday, and it made you feel like you should start getting your affairs in order. Wind, rain, beach erosion and downed power lines were likely, we were told, and "you can just forget about any turf racing at Monmouth." Well, they never said that, but it was apparent with a little reading between the lines. Public handicappers with earlu deadlines planned accordingly.

Lo and behold, it's fast and firm on another beautiful fall afternoon in Oceanport. The only downside to this day is the fact the card is weak, with the first seven races either for maidens or for claimers which have never won two lifetime. However, there are a couple of sprint stakes, the Eillo and the College of New Jersey Stakes, later on the card, and that makes the Pick 5 and the late Pick 4 playable.
