Monmouth: Nice Pick 5

Email

I know of a few old-timers who will tell you it's "only nice if you had it" but today's Pick 5 was nice no matter how you slice it. I went wrong in going too deep in the first leg when I could have used the winner, Julie's Twin Charm ($73.20), on a much smaller ticket. Her win percentage was awful coming into today but she closed noticeably well in her latest. Then, the next three legs were fairly obviously, and you just needed to go two deep in the finale, using Dubai Majesty and the favorite, West Ocean. I didn't, singling West Ocean, and it cost me the ticket. The latter didn't look like a winner at any point until she made the lead in the lane, as she was under encouragement from the top of the turn, but she did seem clear until Dubai Majesty started her run, and she was unable to stave off that rival late.

The 50 cent Pick 5 returned $6,864.35, or $27,457.40 is you extrapolate it out for a $2 wager. The $2 parlay on the winners comes back a little under $8,200.
