Louisiana Downs: Strong card Thursday

Louisiana Downs has three high-end offerings on its card Thursday. The main track is listed as fast and the turf, firm. Temperatures are in the mid-90s.

Aide, a mulitple stakes-placed runner for trainer Al Stall Jr., will make her first start on turf in the featured eighth race. The $25,000 optional claiming allowance for fillies and mares will be run at two turns. Aide's sire is getting 11 percent winners from his first-time turfers and 14 percent winners overall on the grass. Meanwhile, Aide's dam has produced a three-time turf winner in Valise. One of the chief threats to Aide is Maggies Ransom, who is seeking to become the fourth next-out winner to emerge from a June 9 optional claiming allowance that she won at Louisiana Downs.

Other top races on the card include a conditioned allowance for 2-year-olds and a first-level allowance turf sprint led by North of Alaska.
