Louisiana Downs: Stakes double on Saturday


There is a stakes double at Louisiana Downs on Saturday, with the $50,000 Honeymoon to go as the sixth race, with an approximate post of 3:40 p.m. Central, and the $50,000 John Franks Memorial set for the eighth, at 4:40 p.m. Central. Both races are for 3-year-olds and up at a mile on turf, and are restricted to horses bred in Louisiana.

The stakes are the first of the meet at Louisiana Downs. The turf course is listed as firm, and there are a few changes to report for the races. In the Honeymoon, make the rider on the No. 1A, Hisse, Carlos Gonzalez. In addition, scratch No. 8, Sweet Eugeena. In the Franks, make the rider on the No. 1, Hallway, Quincy Hamilton. The horse is coupled with multiple stakes winner Snug, who will be ridden by Jansen Melancon.
