Louisiana Downs: Hawley hoping Prelude trip suits Get in Da House

Get in Da House will be seeking his first win at two-turns in the $100,000 Prelude on Saturday at Louisiana Downs. A stakes winner at seven-furlongs, he was second in the $75,000 Showcase Mile for Louisiana-breds at Evangeline Downs in his two-turn debut July 2.

“He’s a nice horse and he should be able to settle,” said Wes Hawley, who trains Get in Da House.

Hawley also noted Get in Da House is a half-brother to multiple route winner Tommy’s Turn.

Get in Da House is a Louisiana-bred, and could have awaited the Louisiana Cup program at Louisiana Downs on Aug. 20. But a start in the Prelude might open up some more options for the horse, said Hawley. The Prelude winner gets a free berth into the Super Derby.

“If he happened to win, he may go in the Super Derby,” said Hawley. “If he runs second or third, then I can run him back in the Breeders’ Derby. We’ll play this one race at a time.”

Don Simington has the mount on Get in Da House.

"He'll be very competitive in there," Hawley said of the horse's chances in the Prelude.
