Louisiana Downs: Afleet Alex colt debuts for Pittman, Hukill

Noble Alex, a 2-year-old colt by Afleet Alex whose stablemate, Keep On Smokin, sustained multiple second and third degree burns in a February barn fire in Texas, makes his career debut in the upcoming fourth race at Louisiana Downs.

He races for Sharon Pittman and is trained by Charlie Hukill, the same connections of Keep On Smokin, who after three months of intensive veterinary care was able to resume training last week at Louisiana Downs. Keep On Smokin, who at this meet a year ago ran fourth in a pair of local stakes, could make his 3-year-old debut in September.

Noble Alex, meanwhile, is 4-1 on the morning line for the upcoming fourth race, a maiden special weight for 2-year-olds. Bred in Louisiana, his dam, Cute N Noble, won the Louisiana Champions Day Ladies and the Louisiana Breeders' Oaks, for career earnings of $196,272.

"He's a pretty nice colt," Hukill said of Noble Alex. "I expect him to run big. I really do. I feel like he'll represent us real well."
