Lone Star: Wasted Tears on deck

Wasted Tears, who is one of the nation's top turf mares, will be returning from a six-month layoff in the upcoming fourth race, the Grade 3, $200K Ouija Board Distaff.

She will be ridden for the first time by Julien Leparoux, who is in town to ride several horses on the card of six stakes. Rajiv Maragh has ridden Wasted Tears in her last three starts, but with the rider having several key mounts on the Met Mile card at Belmont Park, trainer Bart Evans lined up Leparoux.

"I always liked Julien, and I always thought he'd fit her," said Evans, who first became familiar with Leparoux during the 2004 Breeders' Cup at Lone Star Park.

"I liked him, and he was coming in anyway."

Wasted Tears is the current 3-5 favorite.
