Lone Star: Riders escape serious injury

Email

Jockeys John Rochabrun, Ron Richard and Ernesto Valdez-Jiminez all escaped serious injuries in the sixth race at Lone Star Park, when they were thrown from their mounts near the quarter pole. Snow Cap, under Richard, broke down in what was the start of the chain-reaction accident. Snow Cap had to be euthanized, according to the stewards.

Rochabrun is scheduled to ride later on the card, in the eighth race, stewards said, while Richard and Valdez-Jiminez are to be transported to a local hospital for further examination. The race was won by The Real Story, which was the first career mount for jockey Rodolfo De La Cruz Guerra.
